This time, the ICAI has changed the game (iykyk :P). ICAI has introduced Self Paced Online Modules (SPOM) required to be completed by the students before appearing for their CA Final Exams.
The ICAI provided Self Paced Online Modules (SPOM) to enhance a mode of learning that allows students to study independently and at their convenience using digital resources and materials.
Well with great changes come great challenges! (know the OG?, I like you already!)

Well, First things first, how to kick start this roller-coaster ride of SPOM? That is your registration for CA final course, without saying ;P. Once you have registered for the CA Final course:
1. Visit and sign in to the LMS portal to start with the Self Paced Online Modules (SPOM).
2. There, you will see three ways to access your course, i.e., Sign in with SSP, Log in with OTP, and First Time Users (for new students). Just select the way convenient to you.
3. Then, hit the tab displaying SET A: Corporate and Economic Laws and click on Chapter 1, at last click the first tab shown under modules.
Voila! Now you can watch the SPOM lectures at your own will, anytime, anywhere.
Once you’re done with the SPOM lectures which are mandatory to complete, it’s time to book a slot for the examinations (the main event!). You can book your slot by following these simple steps:
1. You may book the slot from the LMS portal or you may visit this page for SPOM Exam Registration and log in using your SSP credentials / OTP method.
2. Once logged in, you can see the status of your SPOM classes on the dashboard, if completed you will see the option to book a slot right there.
3. Now all you need to do is select your city and center. Choose the date convenient to you.
4. Go, pick a slot and with the payment of Rs.500 your slot for the exam is booked.
Some Pro Tips to help you!
– Always choose the date after considering your prep time!
– Don’t ever think to study first and book the slot later. Not here atleast! You should ideally first book a seat for the exam & then start preparing for the same as seats fill very quickly.

Here’s a sneak peek into the exam pattern & level of the exam:
– SPOM Set A exam is designed to test your extensive knowledge in the Corporate and Economic Laws.
– You need to score 50 marks to get pass. There is no provision of exemption here (that means, permanent exemption!).
– The exam duration is three hour with total marks of 100.
– Wherein you have to answer 50 multiple choice questions (each MCQs consists of two marks) with no negative marking (the best thing!, those who have appeared for the CPT know this very well)
– The exam will be computer based and you will get the result right there once you submit your test.

Let’s break down this evergreen question that must be troubling you all so that you can decide for yourself whether you require classes or are you self-reliant!
But before that, you must keep the following 2 points in mind.
- Recognizing your strength and evaluating your confidence is the key to this decision!
- The decision to take the classes or not is completely based on your strength and confidence. A lot of students struggle with the concepts of theory subjects and find it hard to retain.
- Your confidence comes from your past experiences with theory subjects. If you have scored well in past without the help of any class, then you already have what it takes to crack this subject without any external help.
- Also, for a subject like law, one needs to be affluent in reading and understanding bare-act language. In fact, the whole essence of law resides in the bare act. But for better understanding, we need to convert it in our language. This can happen only when the student has a grip on bare-act language.
- Need of Conceptual understanding. Law can’t be taken lightly at the final level!
- As we are all aware that CA Final Law has some very tricky and conceptual chapters that require proper understanding, you, therefore, need an in-depth understanding of the section for rising up to the level where you can attempt the Multiple Choice Questions (“MCQs”) correctly that ICAI is now asking.
- Recent attempts have proved that ICAI is giving out the exams in such a way that a student who had relied on a mere superficial understanding of the chapters, will be at a disadvantage. Therefore, one needs thorough and in-depth knowledge of the subject in order to score decent marks.
